Life School Wraps Up Volunteer Month With Habitat for Humanity ...

Approximately 125 staff members assist in five Dallas area locations

LANCASTER, TX ? Approximately 125 Life School staff members on Monday, Oct. 29 joined Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity to assist with Habitat?s efforts to revitalize low-income neighborhoods throughout Dallas and its surrounding communities. The outing marked the close of Life School?s Volunteer Month.

?Giving back to the community has been one of Life School?s core principles since we opened our first campus nearly 15 years ago,? said Superintendent Brent Wilson, who was among the Life School volunteers. ?I?m really proud of our team?s hard work and passion for helping others.?

Volunteers were split into five teams, and several staff members sent live updates and photos on Twitter using the hashtag #LSHH. Teams were dispatched to the Veterans Resource Center, Bonton neighborhood in South Dallas, West Dallas ReStore, Northwest Dallas ReStore and a future Habitat home remodel in Mesquite.

Life School staff members helped paint retaining walls outside the Veterans Resource Center and the facility?s interior doors, along with sorting and stocking donated toiletries. Volunteers sorted and stocked items at two of Habitat?s ReStores, which sell new and gently used home improvement goods, furniture, home accessories, building materials and appliances to the public. Teams also assisted in a neighborhood cleanup effort in Bonton and rehab project of an existing home in Mesquite.

Life School, a leading North Texas charter school serving more than 4,000 students, opened in 1998 and has campuses in Dallas, Cedar Hill, Lancaster, Waxahachie and Red Oak.
