Man City comes from behind to beat Fulham 2-1

Associated Press Sports

updated 3:21 p.m. ET Sept. 29, 2012

LONDON (AP) -Substitute Edin Dzeko grabbed a late winner as Manchester City came from behind to beat Fulham 2-1 and revive its challenge for the Premier League title.

The Bosnia striker slammed a powerful finish into the roof of the net in the 87th minute - moments after coming on - to end a run of two straight draws that had dropped the defending champions off the fierce pace set by early leader Chelsea.

Mladen Petric had put Fulham ahead in the 10th with a disputed penalty after John Arne Riise fell under the challenge of Pablo Zabaleta, but Sergio Aguero's first goal of the season had brought City level just before halftime.

The victory keeps Roberto Mancini's unbeaten team four points behind Chelsea, which won 2-1 at Arsenal earlier Saturday, but will help quieten the critics who say City isn't the same force as last season.

"I think that we played a good game," City manager Roberto Mancini said. "I was worried because we continued to play well and continued to create chances, but didn't score (the winner) for 87 minutes."

City remains without a clean sheet, however, after falling behind following a decision to award a penalty for a trip by Zabaleta.

Petric made no mistake with his spot-kick, sending goalkeeper Joe Hart the wrong way, and then wasted a decent chance to double Fulham's advantage five minutes later as he scooped over after fine link-up play with Hugo Rodallega.

Sergio Aguero headed a close-range effort into the side netting but the Argentina striker - playing alongside international teammate Carlos Tevez up front - made amends when he tapped in after David Silva's flick was saved by Mark Schwarzer.

First Mario Balotelli and then Dzeko was thrown on as City sought a winner and the latter provided it, pouncing on Riise's failure to clear Gael Clichy's cross and rifling home an unstoppable shot.

"They are a very good team but there is always a possibility against them to play your football like, for example, Arsenal did last week (in the 1-1 draw with City)," Fulham manager Martin Jol said.

"We couldn't play our style, especially in the second half. We couldn't keep the ball, they were stronger than us and more eager to score."

THIS pair behind Apple One Properties Inc.?an emerging homegrown player in real estate mixed-use and residential developments based in Cebu City?has come a long way since 1993.

Ray and Venus Manigsaca started out venturing into the business of construction back in the early 90s. But before that, they were just like any other youngsters fresh out of college. They had regular day jobs, living their lives as normal, average employees. Rey was heading operations for the consumer products division of a certain multinational company.

Check our new look and tell us what you think.

Venus, on the other hand, practiced her career as a civil engineer. But eventually, both decided that leaving their jobs and trying their luck in business was the better move for the future. Thus their construction company?called Venray back then?was born.

?We?re risk takers,? Ray, president and owner of the corporation simply explained. The man shared how both he and his wife started from scratch back in the day. ?Even as early as we when were still students, we both had an objective of doing business,? he revealed. Ray continued as describing their individual livelihood back then before getting married was very ?hard.? This was a challenging phase in their lives that eventually pushed both persons to be better in the future.

After tying the knot in 1993, it was a step-by-step process for the business, as the couple handled one project to another. Venus would take care of all the technical and on-site concerns of their constructions, while Ray would see to it that the marketing and branding aspects are well covered.

But just about when they were learning the tricks of the trade, the entire world witnessed what was then labeled the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis. This economic haymaker had businesses, particularly those into construction as well, hanging on the ropes for dear life. The crisis was felt until 1998, as the Philippines growth moved to a stalemate. ?There were a lot of projects that were not getting paid?ours included,? corporation owner and chief engineer Venus shared. ?Those were really tough times. Nakahinumdum ko nagduwa-duwa na lang mi sa mall ato,? Ray added referring to the times when the couple would spend their few loose change on arcade computer games in a city mall when they had nothing else to do. ?But we never stopped. We persevered; we had no choice,? Ray said.

Indeed after a few more years of braving the waves of the crisis, the company soon enough was in a good business stance again, primed to make greater decisions. The corporation in time grew, becoming part or majority owners of a number of establishments like AppleTree Suites near Fuente Osme?a, Strawberry Residences at Mabolo, Cebu City, Boardwalk City Residences in Subangdaku, Mandaue City, AppleTree Resort and Hotel in Opol, Misamis Oriental, Diamond Suites and Residences along Escario St., Cebu City, and a new concept project presenting condominiums in Banawa, Cebu City, to be launched later this year. But their biggest effort to date is the AppleOne Tower at the Cebu Business Park. The corporation acquired a 1,786 sqm. strategically situated lot and launched the 16-floor mixed-use development December 2010.

?The dream for AppleOne Tower started in 2007,? Ray shared. ?At that time I noticed the potential for condominium businesses in the city.? By the looks of it, dreaming and planning are some of the things the Manigsacas are pretty good at.

Shared dreams, teamwork, passion?these are but a few elements the couple admit having in their relationship. Contrary to mental images of how overtly-uptight corporate bigwigs are, this couple knows how it is to relax. Both make sure to be home by around dinner time and still keep an early bedtime schedule. If their schedule permits, they also have coffee time together every afternoon at their favorite coffee shop at a city mall.
Blessed with two children as well, it seems that time for one another is the secret blueprint for better days ahead for the Manigsacas?whether in business or in health.

Rome at the End of the Line: Theater Review

The Bottom Line

Lively and haunting production from Mexico of an accomplished (if derivative) text, performed in Spanish with English supertitles.

Venue

24th Street Theatre (Through Oct. 7)

Cast

Norma Ang?lica, Julieta Ortiz

Director

Alberto Lomnitz

Writer

Daniel Serrano

At its most elemental level, theater can deploy the simplest of means to convey universal themes across cultures and languages. This show stirs strong spiritual identification with a culture far removed from Los Angeles and yet intensely present in the life of our city. Though quite specific to its rural Mexican location, it is nevertheless readily accessible while still managing a complex response to an essential philosophical crisis of everyone?s existence.

Two 13-year old girls, Evangelina (Norma Ang?lica) and Emilia (Julieta Ortiz), bored and stranded in their isolated rural village, hang out by the railroad tracks and scheme to hop a train to their imagined promised land, the city of Rome. The arc follows them at six points in their lives, ending in their eighties, an echo of Shakespeare?s Seven Ages of Man, always dreaming of a different life, one with options beyond the bleak ones of subservient marriage, omnipresent violence and grinding poverty. In each chapter, the roar of the passing train amplifies both their hopes and their horrors.

Their existential stasis and spiritual solitude conjures Samuel Beckett, yet tethered to a social consciousness rooted in specific eras of Mexican history, although no topical references are provided to highlight this timeline for the audience, underlining that this awareness is not available to the characters, either. So too the drollery of optimism in the face of unyielding meaninglessness provides a leavening humor that propels each scene.

The two actresses age across the action through gesture, costume and movement, displaying sustained charm and protean technique, appropriately founded more upon the commedia than Beckett?s music hall. There is perhaps a tendency to underline mannerisms with outsized vocal and physical expressions, appropriate in the sense that this suggests the na?ve culture of the women who, especially when younger, conceive of emotions in broader terms.

The English supertitles effectively convey the full range of meaning in the text, although even Spanish speakers may be grateful for them, given the rough-hewn accents of the characters.?

Daniel Serrano?s two-hander is part of his trilogy Impossible Cities (Ciudades Imposibles). With this show, the 24th Street Theatre continues its estimable presentations of contemporary Spanish-language co-productions with international companies in service both to the theatre community and its local population.

What to Eat (and Drink) in October to Support Breast Cancer Research

It's no secret that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and the Lynn Sage Foundation is one of the most prominent Breast Cancer foundations around. Five years ago, the foundation implemented a program called In Good Taste to raise even more money for the cause. The group partners with more than 100 restaurants in and around the city, and when you dine, $1 per check or more (if you're feeling generous) goes directly to the Lynn Sage Scholars Program at Northwestern University. And the participating restaurants? Well, they run the gamut from the the laid-back and casual (Wow Bao, Adobo Grill) to the chic and upscale (Four Seasons Hotel, Ritz Carlton), so there's something for everyone.

Other restos are getting in on the giving back action, too, in their own ways. Places like Bar Umbriago and the LM restaurant group will offer special "pink" drinks such as a Pink Martini or Kir Royale. And portions of the proceeds will go to the Lynn Sage Foundation, or Susan G. Komen Foundation.

But drinks aren't the only thing on the menu. Places like Chicago Cut, Porkchop and Kanela Breakfast Club will offer specially priced dishes, in which a portion of the proceeds go to a cancer foundation. We love it when food and philanthropy merge.

(AP) ? A man fired from his job at a Minneapolis sign-making business pulled out a handgun and began shooting up its offices, fatally wounding the owner and four others before turning the gun on himself, police said Friday.

Andrew Engeldinger, 36, injured at least three others in the Thursday attack at Accent Signage Systems, which Police Chief Tim Dolan said lasted no more than 15 minutes. Dolan also said Engeldinger may have chosen to spare some former co-workers.

"It's clear he did walk by some people, very clear," Dolan said.

Engeldinger's family said in a statement issued through the National Alliance on Mental Illness later Friday that he had struggled with mental illness for years. They offered sympathy to the victims.

"This is not an excuse for his actions, but sadly, may be a partial explanation," the statement said.

No details were released about why Engeldinger was fired, but police said he had ongoing problems at work. Investigators who searched his home Thursday night found a second gun and packaging for 10,000 rounds of ammunition in the house. In the shooting, Engeldinger used a 9mm Glock semi-automatic pistol he had owned for about a year, Dolan said.

"He's obviously been practicing in how to use that gun," Dolan said.

Among those killed was Accent Signage System owner Reuven Rahamim, 61, employee Jacob Beneke, 34; and Keith Basinski, 50, a UPS driver who had made deliveries and pickups at the business for years.

Relatives described Rahamim, who immigrated from Israel and spent three decades building his business after starting it in his basement, as a passionate cook and devoted to his family. Beneke was an avid sculpture artist and painter who worked as a digital imaging manager, and Basinski was a Wisconsin native dedicated to the Green Bay Packers who Dolan said "just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time."

The other two men killed were identified as Rami Cooks, 62, of Minnetonka, and Ronald Edberg, 58, of Brooklyn Center. Two other people remained at the hospital, one in serious condition and one critical condition. Four of the five men killed suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Police received multiple 911 calls from inside the business during the attack, which Dolan described as "a hellish time." When officers arrived, they heard no shots but found some evidence people had tried to fight back, Dolan said. He declined to elaborate.

Police initially said Engeldinger was fired in the morning, then returned in the afternoon. But police revised their account later Friday, saying they were piecing together chaotic events from multiple witnesses and that no one saw the shooting from start to finish.

Capt. Amelia Huffman said it appears Engeldinger got a letter of reprimand in the mail, came into the office Thursday afternoon and was then terminated.

"This had been an ongoing employee situation, which culminated in termination in the afternoon," Huffman said. "From the best we can tell, the incident started right after Mr. Engeldinger had been fired."

She said there was a struggle in the office and shots were fired, and employees elsewhere in the building heard gunshots. "And Mr. Engeldinger left the back office area and fired additional shots throughout the building," she said.

There were more than 20 people in the building at the time.

Dolan described Accent Signage System, a business that includes both offices and manufacturing, as a large building with many rooms branching off to the sides. There was no security and it took tactical units a long time conduct a thorough search. They found two people hiding "a very long time" after the attack began, Dolan said.

Engeldinger's body was found in the basement, he said.

Sue Abderholden, executive director of the National Alliance on Mental Illness' Minnesota chapter, said Engeldinger's family had sought help from the group two years ago, with his parents taking a 12-week course on recognizing and dealing with mental illness.

She said their concerns were "much more centered around paranoid thoughts. No violence or anything like that." The Engeldingers were not able to convince Andrew to seek treatment, she said.

Andrew Engeldinger's uncle, Joe Engeldinger of New Germany, Minn., called his nephew a "good kid" who seemed normal and well-adjusted until about two years ago when he broke off family contact.

"When I would see his family, I would ask them about Andy and nobody could ever tell me anything," Joe Engeldinger said.

Joe Engeldinger, a professional handyman, said his nephew lived with him for a time in the early 1990s shortly after graduating high school, and worked for him helping to renovate old houses.

"He was a good worker. I never didn't trust him with anything," Joe Engeldinger said.

Chuck and Carolyn Engeldinger raised Andrew and his two siblings in Richfield, a suburb directly south of Minneapolis, according to Joe Engeldinger. He said his nephew was excited early in the last decade when he bought his first house ? the modest bungalow in south Minneapolis that police raided late Thursday night, hours after the shooting.

Neighbor Thomas Pitheon said he sometimes exchanged greetings with the man he knew as Andrew but who rarely made much of an impression.

"We just said hi, how you doing, that sort of thing," Pitheon said Friday. "He seemed like an average guy."

Pitheon said he "put two and two together" Thursday night after hearing about the shooting on the radio, then arriving home after dark to find "about a dozen" SWAT teams swarming around Engeldinger's house.

Joe Engeldinger said Andrew's immediate family were having a "horrible time" since learning what happened. He said they were as befuddled as anyone about why he withdrew from loved ones.

The phone line apparently belonging to Engeldinger's parents was not working Friday. His siblings, who also appear to live in the Twin Cities, did not answer phone calls or respond to messages through social media.

"I can only assume there was some kind of mental break there," Joe Engeldinger said. "He wasn't a monster. He wasn't. He was a real good kid, a real good person. He had a real good heart. I don't know what made all this transpire. Hopefully the truth will come out, and won't get twisted into some demented thing."

Weak orders point to sharp slowdown in manufacturing

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Orders for long-lasting U.S. manufactured goods fell sharply in August, suggesting the main engine of the economic recovery was stalling even as a report showing a drop in new claims for jobless aid offered a hopeful sign on the labor market.

While weak demand for aircraft and automobiles accounted for much of the drop in orders last month, the Commerce Department report on Thursday underscored the damage being inflicted by the uncertainty over U.S. fiscal policy, Europe's debt troubles and a slowdown in China.

"Given the uncertainty associated with the fiscal cliff, there is certainly a wait-and-see attitude which is impacting a lot of the data," said Omair Sharif, an economist at RBS in Stamford, Connecticut.

The so-called fiscal cliff refers to the $500 billion or so in expiring tax cuts and government spending reductions set to take hold in 2013 if the U.S. Congress fails to agree on an orderly way to reduce a huge budget deficit.

The Commerce Department said durable goods orders dived 13.2 percent, the largest drop since January 2009, when the economy was in the throes of a recession. The decline primarily reflected weak demand for aircraft and automobiles, and transportation orders fell 34.9 percent. Plane maker Boeing reported only one aircraft order last month versus 260 in July.

But orders were down for a wide range of goods, and even excluding transportation, orders fell 1.6 percent, dropping for a third consecutive month. The fall was in sync with other data indicating a marked cooling in the production side of the economy.

Economists polled by Reuters had expected orders for durable goods -- items from toasters to aircraft that are meant to last at least three years -- to fall 5 percent, with non-transportation orders rising marginally.

Unfilled orders dropped by the most since December 2009, pointing to weak factory activity in the months ahead.

"The thesis that manufacturing activity is likely to struggle for the remainder of the year continues to build," said John Ryding, chief economist at RDQ Economics in New York.

Underscoring the economy's weakness, the government revised its measure of second-quarter growth to just a 1.3 percent annual pace from 1.7 percent, largely to reflect the impact a drought in the Midwest had on farm inventories.

Inventories lopped off almost half a percentage point from GDP growth in the last quarter. However, economists expected this to reverse in the third quarter.

Durable goods inventories set a fresh record high in August, prompting economists at Macroeconomic Advisers to raise their third-quarter GDP growth estimate by one-tenth of a percentage point to 1.8 percent.

There was also bad news on the housing market, which has been one of the economy's relative bright spots. Contracts to buy previously owned homes fell in August, providing a counterpoint to other recent data that have shown activity in the housing market picking up, a separate report showed.

However, not all the news on Thursday was downbeat.

The Labor Department showed the number of Americans filing new claims for jobless benefits fell 26,000 last week to a two-month low of 359,000. The four-week moving average for new claims, a better measure of labor market trends fell for the first time after five weeks of increases.

Investors on Wall Street shrugged off the mixed economic data and bought stocks after five straight days of losses. U.S. Treasury debt prices fell on profit-taking after recent gains, while the dollar was little changed versus a currency basket.

ANXIETY OVER FISCAL POLICY

Despite the drop in claims last week, labor market weakness was expected to persist for a while because of anxiety over higher taxes and deep government spending cuts in January and slowing global growth, economists said.

Sluggish job gains and stubbornly high unemployment spurred the Federal Reserve this month into launching a third round of bond purchases to drive down already low interest rates.

The U.S. central bank vowed to buy $40 billion worth of mortgage-backed securities each month until it sees a sustained upturn in the labor market.

"Today's reports suggest that the Fed is going to remain very accommodative for quite some time to try and spur demand and job growth," said Sam Bullard, a senior economist at Wells Fargo Securities in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Mortgage finance company Freddie Mac said the mortgage-backed securities purchases helped push the average rate on a 30-year fixed rate mortgage down to a record low of 3.40 percent this week.

In a preliminary estimate of an upcoming annual revision to its main employment measures, the Labor Department said it likely undercounted job growth in the 12 months through March by 386,000.

The encouraging news on the labor market was eclipsed by the weak durable goods report.

Orders for non-defense capital goods excluding aircraft, a proxy for business spending plans, rose 1.1 percent in August, only partly reversing a 5.2 percent slide the prior month.

What's more, shipments of these goods, which are used to calculate equipment and software spending in the GDP report, fell for a second straight month. That implies little or no growth in equipment and software investment this quarter.

Which One Should You Use, SEO or PPC? | TLP India

The online community is definitely a large market place that you cannot ignore, especially if you have an internet business. There are thousands if not millions of consumers that you can tap in the internet by having a website. Are you one of them?

At the same time, the internet also poses a quite different challenge. The easy access that internet provides also gives you as much competition as you can imagine. It is too crowded and congested.

Having a website is not enough to make your business running and able to compete. You must take other alternatives to give way for the online community to access your website at any rate or chance possible. This is important if you want to be successful.

You have to expose your website. Make it known. It has to be visible. It has to be frequently targeted by consumers and surfers.

Invest in marketing your internet site. There are basically two options available to you, the SEO and PPC. These two are probably the most desirable alternatives you can get for your internet business as strategy for search engine marketing in order to make your website famous.

1. SEO

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. Some researches indicate that 60% ? 70% of internet surfers and users actually resort to using the Google search engine to find and locate web sites and pages, for any topic they desire. This way you can make sure that you will be visible and can clearly stand out from the rest.

You will have to build on your own internet site frequently hit internet links to web site pages. The process will involve IBLN or Independent Back-Linking Network, wherein hundreds or even thousands of pages will be utilized to promote a particular website of a client.

In SEO, there is no need for you to pay for the clicks although it will require you to spend time doing research to get a favourable combination of ads and target audience. The SEO process is a long term one. It requires months, 6 months at the least, before the proper outcome is fully achieved, but once the goal is accomplished, you will definitely get a steady source of profit. Many online webmasters will tell you that.

2. PPC

PPC means Pay Per Click. It gives way advertising on a search engine. These are sponsored listings that you see whenever you make a search. There will be a charge whenever a visitor or web surfer clicks on any of your ads. There will first be a bidding process. The highest bidder for the price per click will definitely get the chance to be first listed in the search engine.

With this kind of advertising, you can still basically control your campaign as you get to create your own ad. You will also manage the target audience and still stay within the bounds of your budget. Most of the providers of PPC advertising will allow you to specify the target market, either by topic, industry or geographical location. You can also very well check if your ad gets to be shown at all and if it is competitive with the rest.

There are some guaranteed benefits when you get to maximize the PPC strategy.

- PPC lets you advertise to the whole of the online community. It is also relatively easy to set up.

- PPC advertising may seem very expensive. Could it possibly happen that someone out there will go on clicking on your ad? This will definitely give you a large bill without the expected profit on your part. Networks are able to recognize fraudulent clicks.

- You can also set a budget for a certain period. The moment your budget has been used up by the target number of clicks, your ads will no longer be displayed until the next period you want it again displayed.

- You will also be able to adjust well to changes in market demands and trends.

In deciding which of the two strategies will work right for you, think of your goals and of your resources. They definitely offer benefits and advantages that will work for your good. The better way to approach this two is to evaluate according to your short term and long term plans.

There world is out there for you now. Just make sure you do what will work best for your purpose online. The secret to success lies in your hands. Just study your options well and you?ll get exactly what you want with your online business.

Sell Structured Settlements Blog ? In a Bind

In a Bind

Two years ago, I ambitiously signed up a volunteer project. That should have been plenty of time to do a thorough job. I recruited a second co-volunteer and a mere 6-months after I agreed to it, we had our first meeting. Our second meeting was over a year later. Somehow, it didn?t get real until about 4-5 months before our deadline. Then at 3 months, I was feeling pretty good. Everything wasn?t completely set, but it was coming along. It was going to be fine. Or so I kept telling myself.

Exactly one month before the event, half of the participating artists withdrew, citing safety, distance, travel, whatever?it doesn?t matter because in an instant they were gone. The hole that was left was bigger than just the removal of those two, it caused a cave-in; the third artist no longer wanted to be part of it because she no longer felt like she fit in. Not content to organize a solo show, we spent a week looking for the missing artist, the one that would rebalance the show, give us a cohesive thread, and have enough work available for us to borrow.

With just three weeks left, we think we have that missing piece. How did my 2 year lead time disappear so quickly? If you?re having trouble planning your financial future, maybe you should find out more from a buyer of structured settlement annuities about how to get cash for structured settlement payments.

Some workers take advantage of workplace bullying laws, experts say

A new research on workplace bullying revealed that bosses are hesitant to discipline workers due to fear of being accused a bully.

The Herald Sun reported that Comcare told the federal parliamentary inquiry the number of ?mental harm? claims lodged by federal bureaucrats have increased to 30 percent ?in three years, with payouts soaring to $ 46 million in a year.

?Anecdotal evidence shows many managers are afraid to engage in performance management action due to fear of being labelled a bully,? says Comcare.

Experts believe that some workers are taking advantage of workplace bullying laws by making unsubstantiated claims.

Workplace law expert, Joydeep Hor told News Limited that organisations and managers are becoming ?gun shy? because of fear of being accused of bullying or harassment.

?They have apprehension there will be allegations of bullying or harassment,? said Mr Hor.

?You know, ?If something happens to me in the workplace that I don?t like I will put a label on it of it amounting to bullying,?? he said.

?As with any unfortunate labels there?s certainly a lot of that politicking that goes around.?

The new research also highlighted that one in three workers has been sworn or yelled at on the job, while 6 percent have been assaulted or threatened. Almost one in four workers has felt humiliated in front of other people.

One in five has experienced ?discomfort? due to sexual jokes, one in 10 has felt unfairly treated due to their gender and one in 20 has experienced unwanted sexual advance.

The Public Service Association of South Australia wants to tone down the term bullying to ?inappropriate behaviour.?

?Bullying? is a very emotive word and almost like being referred to as something akin to a paedophile,? says PSA assistant general secretary, Nev Kitchin during the inquiry.

Mr Hor believed the over-statement of workplace bullying impacts businesses? success and safety of jobs.

?Without over-dramatising, you have anarchy, because people are allowed to get away with all sorts of inadequate behaviours, and sub-standard behaviour becomes the norm.?

?That?s hardly conducive to high productivity and business performance, which ultimately leads to less job security for the employees.?

Lehman to pay creditors another $10.5 billion

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc on Tuesday said it will pay about $10.5 billion to creditors starting early next month, the second leg of a plan to eventually pay out more than $65 billion.

Lehman will distribute the money to affiliates and subsidiaries, as well as to third-party creditors, according to a filing in Manhattan bankruptcy court.

Creditors have already received about $22.5 billion under the first leg of the payout plan, unveiled in April. The additional $10.5 billion will bring total payback to around $33 billion.

While that is about half the total they are estimated to receive, it's a far cry from full payback on the more than $300 billion in claims leveled by creditors against the defunct financial giant.

Lehman's collapse on September 15, 2008 helped spur the global financial crisis. Creditors waited 3-1/2 years for payback as Lehman trudged through a messy liquidation, fighting with bondholders and creditors like Goldman Sachs Group Inc for control of the terms of a payback plan.

In June 2011, Lehman proposed a plan it touted as a "global compromise," estimating about $65 billion in total payback and giving many creditors recoveries of between 20 and 30 cents on the dollar. Creditors of Lehman's parent are projected to recover about 21 cents on the dollar, while derivatives creditors, like Goldman, will get about 28 cents.

Actual totals depend on Lehman's success in marketing and monetizing its real estate and other assets, which could be affected by changes in markets.

A spokeswoman for Lehman could not immediately be reached.

Lehman said in a statement on Tuesday it anticipates making a third distribution around March 30.

The case is In re Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of New York, No. 08-13555.

All That Gross Bacteria on Your Toothbrush and Pillowcase Isn't a Big Deal [Health]

All That Gross Bacteria on Your Toothbrush and Pillowcase Isn't a Big DealYou know how everything is killing you? It's not. You've likely heard claims about gross (and possibly dangerous) bacteria invading your body when you flush the toilet, wash your pillowcase irregularly, or just go near a kitchen sink. Even if they're true, they're nothing to worry about.

Fitness Magazine looked at a number of germ and bacteria myths, only to conclude that few (if any) really have any major impact on your life. For example, consider the commonly held belief that your toilet sprays your toothbrush with bacteria every time you flush it. This is true, but it's not as gross and dangerous as it might sound:

Microorganisms are ejected when you flush the toilet and land all over the bathroom, even if you close the lid, according to research by Gerba. But you probably won't get sick from this. "When the toothbrush dries, most of the organisms will die anyway," says Gerba. Just keep your toothbrush as far away from the toilet as possible, or put it in the medicine cabinet, he says. If someone in the house is ill and using the same bathroom as you are, her germs could be spread this way.

Basically, don't flush your toilet right before you brush your teeth. Wash your toothbrush before you use it. These are things you probably do already. The full post over at Fitness Magazine runs down several bacteria- and germ-related myths, whether they're true or not, and what you should do about them. In most cases, you just have to use common sense and stop worrying that everything is going to kill you.

PFT: Ref nightmare NFL feared has happened

PFT: Even before Monday night?s Packers-Seahawks game, the officiating lockout had reached a tipping point. Casual, Super-Bowl-only fans were buzzing about the brouhaha, and the NFL?s ?remain calm . . . all is well . . . ALL IS WELL!? mantra was regarded as laughable. But the NFL had been lucky. No game had been decided by a bad call in a decisive moment. So much for that.

Stock Investment Can Put Your Money to Work for You | Penny Stocks

Stock Investment

Interested in Stock Investment?

Most people are not involved in stock investment but they are curious about it. It seems to these people that you can earn money without working when you invest it. That is not completely true. It does take work to be successful with investments. However, there is no question that most investors treasure being able to put their money to work for them rather than work for their money.

A wise stock investment can generate a lot of profits. This is not a form of gambling, though. Traders and investors spend a lot of time reading about their targeted investments and comparing them to other companies. They do not get paid for this work. The world of stock investment is a world of risks. You have to do a lot of research and hope that you interpret it correctly in order to make money.

How to Get Started with Stock Investment

If you want to try your hand at stock investment, you will need to do a few things first. Before you risk any money on an investment, you should read at least one book on the basics of investing. There are a lot of free ebooks available on this topic.

The next step is to acquire the funds that you will need to invest. Major traders will risk hundreds of thousands of dollars in a day. You may not be in this league. However, you should know that you would need thousands of dollars to make any sort of worthwhile investment. It would not be wise to begin stock investment in earnest until you have tens of thousands of dollars ready to invest in a variety of financial instruments.

Bicycle Accident Kills Bicyclist After Being Hit by Two Cars - Typepad

Bicycle accident fatal police tape - noyes newsA bicyclist was hit by two automobiles in Dade City in Saturday. The bicyclist was 29-year-old James C. Allbritton of Dade City.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, Mr. Allbritton was riding south on State Road 35, near Wilds Road, when he was struck by an automobile which was also being driving south. The impact sent Mr. Allbritton bouncing off of the vehicle and into the northbound lanes of the roadway. That's where he was run over by the second car. Mr. Allbritton was pronounced dead at the scene just before 11 p.m.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Allbritton family. It is hard when a loved one dies, but it is even tougher when the death is unexpected and caused by an accident. When a person dies in a car accident, bicycle accident or other type of crash, loved ones often don't get to say the good-byes they wish they could have said.

At the time of the crash, Mr. Albritton was riding on the correct side of the road. Florida law states that a bicyclist must ride as far to the right as practicable. It does NOT say as far to the right as possible. Practicable means capable of being done within the means and circumstances present. For safety, a cyclist should maintain no less than 2 feet of clearance from the edge of usable pavement to have room to maneuver around obstructions and to be more visible to crossing traffic.

Reports state that Mr. Allbritton was riding his bike in dark-color clothes and without a light. This tragedy should serve a reminder to all bicycle riders that it is important to take steps to be seen--wear bright clothes and put a light and reflectors on your bicycle.

Bicyclist, ride safely and motorists, drive safely watching out for bicyclist. Together, lives could be saved.

Bank Of Japan Did Not Impress Markets.

The event of last week was the policy meeting of the Bank of Japan. Expectations were low, meaning most analysts had predicted no action from the BoJ. Causing initial surprise, the central bank announced expansion of its asset purchase program by JPY 10 trillion to JPY 55 trillion. In response, all the Yen pairs rallied, but that lasted only few hours as if markets digested the news and lost enthusiasm. After all, bigger purse does not guarantee more QE, at least not immediately. According to the release, the target for asset purchases for 2012 remains unchanged at JPY 45 trillion, while the objective for mid-2013 increased by JPY 5 trillion. To date quantitative easing by Japanese authorities did very little to weaken the Yen, especially versus the USD. Based on what happened last week, if the BoJ wants achieve measurable results, it will have to become as aggressive as the FED when it comes to money printing. Alternatively, a new round of direct interventions is another option, too.

Actions of the BoJ had some influence on my trade from last post, the short in CAD-JPY, although without changing its outcome. A brief weakness in the Yen created an uncomfortable bounce, but that was short lived. The price resumed its downward trajectory, falling to 79.57, easily meeting my target of 80.00. I am considering another sell under the new low and will make the decision in coming days. If it happens, the objective would be comparable to the previous trade, about 75 pips or so.

Another possible trade covered in the previous post did not work out. More to the point, it did not happen. I was looking for a trend reversal on the hourly chart of the AUD-NZD, with intention of buying it at 1.2745. The price kept falling, establishing a minor high at 1.2695, which could become a new long entry (or few pips above it, like 1.2705). In simpler terms, I am tracking minor highs with buy orders, still waiting for a reversal/rebound. The next one could form at around 1.2650, allowing for lower entry, but that is speculative for now.

The Euro pulled back to some degree, although it is not clear if this is a genuine reversal or a corrective move, typical following a strong rally. In case of the EUR-CAD that translated into a decline from 1.2798 to 1.2633. At this point, the hourly chart appears to be undecided. While it could form a bottom here, I am inclined to think the EUR-CAD will move lower. With a sell order at 1.2628, immediate target is around 1.2550. Meanwhile opening gaps could bring some short-term trading opportunities, if they develop. We will find out soon. Have a great trading week!

It's time to tune back into the Emmy's, America! Last year's ceremony brought in historically low ratings. But Hollywood types are always looking for ways to make it better.
